Exploration of Genetic Pattern of Phenological Traits in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Drought Stress

Drought is the major detrimental environmental factor for wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production. The exploration of genetic patterns underlying drought tolerance great significance. Here we report gene actions controlling phenological traits using line × tester model studying 27 crosses and 12 parents under normal irrigation conditions. results interpreted via multiple analysis (mean performance, correlations, principal component, analysis, heterotic heterobeltiotic potential) disclosed highly significant differences among germplasm. waxiness (glume, boom, sheath) were strongly interlinked. Flag leaf area exhibits a positive association with peduncle spike length drought. growing degree days (heat-units) greatly influence spikelets grains per spike, however, grain yield/plant was significantly reduced (17.44 g to 13.25 g) components based on eigenvalue indicated PCs (first-seven) accounted 79.9% 73.9% total variability drought, respectively. investigated yield showed complex behaviour. advance confronted moderate high heritability spikelets/spike yield/plant. conditioned by dominant effects in inversely controlled additive vice versa. magnitude dominance traits, i.e., twist, auricle hairiness, yield/plant, spikelets, grains/spike suggests that selection pedigree method appropriate improving these conditions could serve as an indirect index yield-oriented populations tolerance.
